#101 Random Acts of Kindness
Yogananda stated: “Kindness is the light that dissolves all walls between souls, families, and nations.” The world has mastered success, innovation and wealth, but what about being kind and compassionate? It seems as we strive for more material wealth and consumption, kindness, and compassion toward others become less important. As we actively work towards cultivating more kindness, the collective consciousness of our world will positively shift. Random acts of kindness are a great way to cultivate a kinder, more abundant world.
Be Kind:
Ask yourself, when was the last time you were kind to a stranger? Or, the last time a stranger was kind to you? How did their kindness make you feel? Hopefully, you received a positive reaction from it, as it is inherent to our nature. Kindness is something that is built into our human genome. From birth, we rely heavily on others to care for and nurture us – trusting in the kindness of our parents and loved ones to help us grow. Each time you are kind to someone or someone is kind to you, it is scientifically proven to make you happier. As people commit random acts of kindness, gratitude increases – releasing positivity into the planet. The person receiving the act of kindness is shown, in turn, to be kinder to others they come in contact with throughout the remainder of their day. Like a rock thrown into a pond, the positive vibrations from acts of kindness, ripple out into the unseen energy fields – positively affecting the collective.
Kindness Facts:
Random acts of kindness release neurochemicals that result in a sense of well-being.
Simple witnessing acts of kindness produces oxytocin, which aids in lowering blood pressure and improving our overall heart health.
According to research from Emory University, when you are kind to people, your brain’s pleasure and reward centers light up, as if you were the recipient of the good deed – not the giver.
Engaging in acts of kindness produces endorphins, which are the brain’s natural painkiller.
A study by Dr. David R. Hamilton, showed acts of kindness create emotional warmth, which releases the hormone oxytocin, causes the release of nitric oxide – which dilates the blood vessels causing a reduction in blood pressure.
Kindness enhances both physical and mental health and has been linked to the reduction of stress.
